FlowerMasters only trades with suppliers who act responsible and sustainable. Our partners in South America have met the requirements of Florverde.
Florverde® Sustainable Flowers builds on more than fifteen years of experience in developing, promoting and implementing responsible codes of conduct, standards, and sustainable agricultural practices. Today, Florverde® Sustainable Flowers is an independent social and environmental standard for the flower sector that is backed by a strong team of agronomists, social workers and other professionals. This team is responsible for reviewing and updating the standard under the guidance of an advisory council made up of flower growers, agronomists, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and government officials. Any major changes proposed must also be submitted for public consultation.
Although Florverde® Sustainable Flowers is responsible for setting the standard and obtaining stakeholder approval, the certification itself is awarded by third party certification bodies, such as SGS, Icontec and NaturaCert. The certification process includes reviewing farm documentation, inspecting farms, interviewing workers, and reviewing lab tests results.
Our partners in Europe produce according to the requirements of MPS, which is the market leader in CSR certification.
The demand for sustainable growing from the market, authorities and society is increasing each year. Here it is the task of MPS to give maximum support to clients, while offering the appropriate certificates and services.
Sustainable certification entails consistently applying sustainability in your operations, with this being assured based on a certificate. The aim is to create a good balance at your company between People (social aspects), the Planet (the environment) and Profit (results). For growers, corporate social responsibility starts with the MPS-ABC certificate (the environment certificate), that can be supplemented by a quality certificate and/or social certificate.
The Rainforest Alliance is a growing network of farmers, foresters, communities, scientists, governments, environmentalists, and businesses dedicated to conserving biodiversity and ensuring sustainable livelihoods. They are an international non-profit organization working to build strong forests and healthy communities through creative, pragmatic collaboration.
The Rainforest Alliance’s work is guided by their understanding that the health of the Earth is linked to the well-being of those whose livelihoods depend on the land and forests. As everyone has a vital role to play in strengthening this relationship, they provide training to farmers and foresters, work with businesses committed to sustainability, and motivate citizens to adopt sustainable lifestyles.
